Walter Bohorfoush is the Director of the Record Management Office at the Department of Transportation and serves as the Department’s Chief Records Officer. In this position, he supports the records management life cycle needs for over 60,000 federal and contractor employees at the Department. In previous positions, he served as the Director of the Office of Systems Integration and Records Management at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
He was the Electronic Records Management Team Leader at the United States Patent and Trademark Office and he managed the Technical Service’s Branch at the Center for Electronic Records at the National Archives and Records Administration. He has been enabling Information Technology to meet customers’ requirements and expectations since 1975 (when it was still called Data Processing). He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University, and is also a Certified Federal Records Manager.
